Parent and Family Orientation FAQ

  • Who can go to Parent and Family Orientation?

    Parent and Family Orientation is geared toward parents, guardians and other support agents to inform participants about 成人大片topics. Topics include student privacy, student finances, resources available for students, the change from being the family member of a high school student to that of college student, and more.

  • Can I bring someone 17 and under?

    Siblings 17 and under are more than welcome to attend Parent and Family Orientation; however, some topics cover sensitive material that may not be appropriate for children. We ask that siblings be added as guests on the student's Applicant Portal. Students can add family members in their Applicant Portal, under the Orientation tab, after they register and pay for a New Student Orientation session.

    Please Note: Registration is $75 per family member who plans to attend.

  • Should I attend Parent and Family Orientation?

    Yes! Although it is not mandatory for parents and family members, we highly encourage you to participate in our program. We offer a variety of sessions to educate you and your family on the time your student will spend here. We also offer opportunities to connect with 成人大片staff. Past participants of Parent and Family Orientation have said they felt more confident in their student’s choice to attend 成人大片after attending Parent and Family Orientation and that Orientation was a good use of their time, as it helped them understand 成人大片better.

  • What topics are covered?

    We will cover topics like student privacy, student finances, health services, resources available for students and a variety of other topics.

  • Is there a cost to attend Parent and Family Orientation?

    Yes. Parent and Family Orientation costs $75 per family member who would like to attend. Parent and Family Orientation takes place on the same in-person date(s) as New Student Orientation.

    The registration cost goes towards the programming including a Family Calendar, T-Shirt, meal, and more.

  • How do I register for Parent and Family Orientation?

    Students can add family members in their Applicant Portal, under the Orientation tab, after they register and pay for an in-person New Student Orientation session. Registration is $75 per family member who plans to attend.

    Please Note: There are not coordinating Parent and Family Orientation sessions for students attending a virtual Basic Orientation session.

  • Will I be with my student the whole time?

    There are some sessions you will attend with your student; however, your student’s orientation is geared specifically toward beginning life at UNF. Parent and Family Orientation is to help you learn about 成人大片and how you can be a good resource for your student.

  • Can I attend the academic advising appointment?

    Unfortunately, due to the limited time each student has with an advisor, advising and course registration is for students only during Orientation. Our advisors are trained to ensure students are receiving the best options for their education. Due to FERPA laws, 成人大片must ensure the privacy of student information, including a student's schedule. If family members have any questions about their student’s schedule, they may visit the First-Year Advising Office with their student at the conclusion of the Orientation program, or contact the office at (904) 620-1012.

  • Do we get meals at Parent and Family Orientation?

    Lunch is included with your Parent and Family Orientation registration. Family members are welcome to dine on campus while visiting for Orientation outside of planned programming.
