Living-Learning & Theme Communities (LLCTC) Retreat FAQ

Retreat Dates: August 13–16, 2025

Welcome to the LLCTC Retreat! This experience marks the official start of your Living-Learning or Theme Community journey at UNF.

  • What is the LLCTC Retreat?

The LLCTC Retreat is a multi-day experience that brings students together within their Living-Learning or Theme Community before fall classes begin. It’s designed to help you:

    • Build relationships with peers
    • Connect with your Living Community Assistant (LCA)
    • Explore campus resources
    • Feel confident and prepared to begin your 成人大片experience

Each community has its own unique retreat schedule with both shared and community-specific programming.

  • When is the LLCTC Retreat?

The retreat begins with early move-in on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, and continues through Saturday, August 16, 2025. Programming begins the same afternoon as move-in.

  • Is the LLCTC Retreat required?

Yes. Participation in the retreat is expected of all students in a Living-Learning or Theme Community. It sets the tone for your community experience, introduces expectations, and is one of the only dedicated times to build meaningful relationships before the semester begins.

  • Do I need to register for the LLCTC Retreat?

Yes. All LLCTC students must register for the retreat in order to submit waivers and complete the LLCTC Community Agreement questions that guide our future planning.

You can register and view upcoming LLCTC events here:

  • Why do I have to move in early?

Early move-in ensures you can fully participate in the retreat from the very beginning. It allows time to connect with your peers, meet staff and mentors, and ease into the semester before the rush of Welcome Week and classes.

  • What if I already made plans to move in later?

We understand some students and families may have made plans before learning about the retreat. However, arriving late means missing key activities and relationship-building moments that shape your community experience. If you have unavoidable conflicts, please contact us as soon as possible so we can help you navigate next steps.

  • Where do I go on the first day?

The retreat begins on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, with Community Meetings at 3:00 P.M. across campus.

Go directly to your assigned Community Meeting location, listed in your LLCTC’s schedule. You can find your location in one of two places:

    • Your LLCTC's Engage 成人大片page on GivePulse
    • Your LLCTC’s Microsoft Teams channel

If you get lost or need help, stop by the Housing and Residence Life Office (Building 14B) for assistance.

  • Will I miss anything important if I don鈥檛 attend the retreat?

Yes. Students who miss the retreat miss out on:

    • Community expectations conversations
    • Team-building and vision-setting
    • LLC traditions and events
    • Connections with other students, your LCA, and faculty/staff partners

These shared moments help build a foundation for belonging, engagement, and academic success throughout your time in the community.

By not participating in any portion of the LLCTC Retreat students may also become ineligible for the LLCTC Medallion and the Experiential Learning credit.

  • What if I鈥檓 in both Hicks Honors College and another LLCTC?

If you're in Hicks Honors College and a Living-Learning or Theme Community (e.g., PreMed, STEM, Coggin), you selected the correct option on your form!

As an Honors student, you'll primarily follow the Hicks Honors College retreat schedule due to assignments tied to your Honors Colloquium course. However, we are coordinating opportunities for you to engage with your LLCTC as well—especially in the evenings or during unscheduled time.

Your Honors Facilitator and your LLCTC LCA will help you stay informed about how to connect with both programs. We encourage you to make an intentional effort to build relationships in your community outside of formal programming, especially with students living near you in the residence halls.

You’ll be able to find the full retreat schedule for each LLCTC here (as it becomes available):

  • What should I bring to the LLCTC Retreat?

In addition to your standard move-in essentials, we recommend bringing:

    • Comfortable walking shoes
    • Weather-appropriate clothing (some events are outdoors)
    • Reusable water bottle
    • Sunscreen
    • Positive energy and an open mind
